.........................................................................................................................Book DescriptionChild Labour - How to Investigate? deals with methodological aspects of the problem. It has mainly been written in the form of manual for the practitioners and bodies concerned with the problem of child labour, such as, national and international NGOs, research institutions and government departments. The manual firstly describes various basic concepts and notions regarding child labour which are either misunderstood or not known to new entrants in the field. Secondly, the issue of problem identification has been taken up. It gives a direction to the researchers and field workers concerning what is to be investigated? Certain areas have been delineated which may help in identifying area of study. How to investigate the problem of child labour forms the core of this manual. Steps have been delineated concerning (i) preparation for the study, (ii) key locations where child labour exists, and (iii) field work including observation and interviewing. The most difficult aspect of child labour, generally known as, 'Hidden' Child Labour has been given due emphasis. It includes common 'risk zones' such as, child trafficking, child prostitution, drug-peddling/boot-legging and, bondage. How to write the report on child labour has been given briefly as one of the chapter in the manual. It is expected that the entrants will find it very useful for NGOs and researchers will also benefit from it.Annexure contains four types of sample questionnaires viz. questionnaires for (i) child workers, (ii) employers, (iii) farmers, and (iv) key-informants. These questionnaires are expected to be a guiding force for the researchers and practitioners as well.A bibliography has especially been prepared and given in the book so that resource persons and researchers may benefit.Contents of this book include : Some Basic Concepts of Child Labour; Child Labour Problem Identification; How to Investigate the Problem of Child Labour?; 'Hidden' Child Labour, How to Write the Report?; Annexures; Bibliography..........................................................................................................................Contents1.
