A post Graduate both in Law and Political Science, he was awarded ph.D in Law, in 1996, by the Cochin University of Science & Technology, for his research work in Family Law. He was a part-time Lecturer in Govt. Law College, Ernakulam and a visiting Faculty in the School of Legal Studies, CUSAT and also in the National University of Advanced Legal Studies Cochin. He is a Member of the Academic Council of the School of Legal Studies, CUSAT. He is a recognized supervisor and Guide in the Ph.D Programme in Law of the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and is a Contributor to the World Encyclopedia of Legal History being published by Oxford University Press, New York.
