.............................................................................................................................DescriptionIn response to globalisation, India has opened up its economy, removing controls and resorting to liberalisation. The natural corollary of this is that the Indian market should be geared to face competition from the local as well as the international players. Repealing the MRTP Act 1969 the Competition Act was enacted in 2002 to provide, for the promotion and sustenance of competition in market and establishment of a Commission to prevent practices having adverse effect on competition, to protect the interests of consumers and to ensure freedom of trade carried on by other participants in markets in India, and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto aimed at economic development of the country.Extensive expositionThe work opens with a description of the jurisprudence of competition law considering the fact that the prevalent moral, social, political and economic theories have a good deal more to do than a mere logic of the rules by which competition in the market is governed. The work specially focuses on comments on Indian competition law on all issues that pertinently arise. The work explains in detail the implications of the Competition Act 2002 on the track of the history of the competition law in India running into the MRTP Act 1969 and experiences so gathered.Focusing on competition issuesThe work aims at throwing light on competition issues in corporate market which includes anticompetitive agreements, abuse of dominance in mergers as well as regulation of combinations. The role and significance of Intellectual Property in the corporate sector and the growing debate on the entry barriers it create in the realm of the competition have led the authors to include a separate chapter to decipher issues relating to Intellectual Property and Competition Law. This outstanding work will certainly meet the needs of the academicians as well as the practioners..............................................................................................................................ContentsChapter 1.
