Author's Details Delays in justice delivery has been a problem for long. Universal is proud that they have been entrusted with the task of placing Mr. Arun Mohan, Senior Advocate’s painstaking work ‘Justice, Courts and Delays’ before the readers. It is an unusual project, which has taken well over a decade-unusual in the sense that it is a writing preceded by extensive research on the functioning of our laws, substantive and procedural, and justice system, with the sole objective of helping reduce delays.
A public service project by Mr. Arun Mohan, a Senior Advocate of long standing and wide experience at the Bar, and written in a manner for the layman and the learned alike, it has been presented in a slightly offbeat manner, replete with practical illustrations.
Despite its length, the work does not purport to be a mere statement of the existing law, but seek to analyse the existing law, particularly procedural, with a view to: (1) make the best of the existing procedures and practices; and (2) put forward thoughts so as to enable the lawyers, the courts and even the public involved in litigation, to further develop these thoughts for improvement in our laws and systems. The Pattern of discussion is one which, despite its appearance, could be of immense utility to the ‘Aam Aadmi’ or simply, anyone involved in a court case. .........................................................................................................................
