Author Details Ponniah Krishnaswamy was born in the year 1932 the son of indentured tea plantation worker (an euphemism for bonded labourers) in Sri Lanka, his parents having migrated to the island in the late 1800s from Nalukkottai village in the then sprawling district of Ramanathapuram. Having learnt his three 'r's initially at the estate school, he later joined the Methodist Mission School in Hatton in the heart of the Kandyan hills. Passing his Senior School Certificate examination he worked briefly as a clerk in tea exporting firm in Colombo and then did a stint as a teacher in the Mission School, where he studied. ............................................................................................................................ |
