Author Details Dr Justice GC Bharuka, received his B Sc (Hons) and M Sc (Mathematics) degrees from Ranchi University. After obtaining his LLB degree in 1966, he practiced in the Patna High Court from 1968 till 1990. He was designated Senior Advocate in May 1984 and elevated as a permanent Judge of the Patna High Court in July 1990. In 1994. he was transferred to the High Court of Karnataka and continued there till his retirement in 2003. He also served as the Acting Chief Justice. Justice Bharuka has been a pioneer in leading the movement for improvement in the judicial system through the use of information and communication technology and court management. He initiated court computerisation forthefirsttimeinlndiain1990mthe Patna High Court. While a Judge at Karnataka. he successfully completed his doctoral research from National Law School of India University. Bangalore, which led to the publication of his book. Rejuvenating the Indian Judicial System through E-Governance and Attitudinal Change. In 2004, the Union Cabinet appointed him as Chairman. E-Committee for formulating a National Policy and Action Plan for ICT empowerment of the entire Indian judiciary. Justice Bharuka has many writings to his credit. He has earlier revised Mu/la Transfer of Property Act, Mulla Indian Partnership Act and Mulla Sale of Goods Act. He is a visiting faculty at the National Judicial Academy.
